Sergio Sartorelli (Alessandria, May 7, 1928 - Torino, November 28, 2009) was an Italian automotive designer and engineer who worked for Carrozzeria Ghia and FIAT. He designed the Karmann Ghia Type 34.[1][2]
In the 1940s, Sartorelli built wooden, scale models of automobiles he'd seen in magazines. He served in the Italian military as cartographer, but continued to work on car models in his spare time. Following his military service, he earned a degree in mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin,[3] and in 1956, he was employed by Carrozzeria Ghia.[4]
